This match is the second in conference play for both teams after the Blue Devils started off with an early loss and the Eagles picked up a win in their first foray into ACC play.

The Blue Devils rebounded after their tough loss to the Syracuse Orange (1-5), but that left a bad taste in their mouths as they chase a National Championship:
This season has been up-and-down for the Blue Devils as they trade wins for losses and have yet to find any rhythm. They won their first two games of the season, then immediately dropped two games, trading wins and losses afterward since then.

On the other side, the Eagles have won two matches in a row to get back to .500 this season. The early 1-3 hole they dug themselves has not been easy to get out of, but it takes a lot of character for a team to climb out of a hole like that to become a genuine contender again.
