BET—short for Black Entertainment Television—is an American cable network that produces programming aimed at African-American audiences. The network was launched in 1980 in a timeshare with USA Network before launching as a full channel in 1983. The network airs a wide range of programming, from original scripted dramas and comedies to unscripted reality shows. The network also airs numerous award shows such as the BET Awards and BET Hip Hop Awards, as well as syndicated programs, including re-runs of popular comedy series The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and Martin.

BET currently airs five original drama series: American Soul, Games People Play, Haus of Vicious, The Oval and Tales.

The network is home to three original comedy series in Sistas, Twenties and Tyler Perry's Assisted Living, as well as new seasons of Tyler Perry's House of Payne, which originally aired on TBS.

As far as unscripted series, BET airs the docuseries Boiling Point and Disrupt & Dismantle, as well as the reality series BET Presents: The Encore and the forthcoming After Happily Ever After.
