The women will take the ice on Thursday night to compete in the short program for their chance to make the World Championship team.

The U.S. Figure Skating Championships are underway in Los Angeles and on Thursday night, the women's short program will take place. With the two top women from last year, Alysa Liu and Mariah Bell, having retired, the top of the podium is wide open. For the first time since 1993, only one reigning U.S. Champion across four disciplines will be competing.

15-year-old New Jersey native and reigning junior champion Isabeau Levito is favored to win with her season-high being 18.13 points higher than the next American skater, Amber Glenn. Glenn's season high of 68.42 in the short program was collected at the Grand Prix event.
