The high school football season is back in full swing and that brings us to this showdown between two southern California high schools. The Friday night lights will shine bright in the San Juan Hills as the Eagles host the Santa Margarita Eagles to open the season. San Juan Hills will be looking for revenge at home after last year's game where Santa Margarita won 38-14. Last year, these two opened the season breaking in a new stadium for Saddleback College. Quarterback Jaxon Potter threw three touchdowns in the first half to put the game away early on in the action.

It would take San Juan Hills four more games to earn a victory in the 2021-22 season where they finished the year 3-7. A win at home would be a tremendous start to help build momentum for a bounce-back season. Santa Margarita, on the other hand, went 5-1 in its first six games last year. They went 1-4 in the final five games of the season though so there is definitely room to build. This is a non-league game but this rivalry should be very intense all the same.
