Despite their record, the Lions are still 28th in the state of California. Both of their losses came to teams ranked in the Top 15 of the state, with a loss to the 11th ranked Chaminade Eagles (17-24) and the 13th ranked Serra Cavaliers (14-20).
Those are the types of games teams have to play in California to maintain their standing and a chance at a state championship.
On the other side, the Coyotes have a prime opportunity to get a win that will define their season and potentially vault them up the rankings. If they can take down the Lions today, they will have a win over a top 30 team in the state and one of the best records overall.
