The last unbeaten teams in Group A collide to close out group play at the IIHF World Junior Championships in Edmonton when host Canada (3-0-0-0) faces off with Finland (2-1-0-0) on Monday. The winner gets the top seed from the group in the medal round and will face either Austria or Switzerland in the quarterfinals. The loser draws either Sweden or Germany when the medal round opens on Wednesday. Canada has medaled in each of the last two years, winning gold in 2020 and taking the silver last year. Finland was the bronze medalist in Edmonton in the 2021 championships.

While both teams are unbeaten, Finland had to go to a shootout to beat Czechia while Canada has won all three of its contests in regulation. Canada comes in off a 5-1 win over Czechia on Saturday; Finland hammered Slovakia 9-3 on Sunday.
Mason McTavish scored twice for Canada in the win Saturday, with Tyson Foerster Ridly Greig and Kent Johnson also lighting the lamp. McTavish has a tournament-best six goals in three games.
Against Czechia on Sunday, Joel Maatta and Kasper Simontaival scored twice each for the Finns.
