The win put the Cubs back in sole possession of first place in the Midwest League West division. South Bend starter Porter Hodge got his first Midwest League win in the process. Even though the Cubs won handily, it wasn't all smooth sailing for Hodge. He struggled with command issues walking six batters but he only gave up one hit in five innings and didn't give up a run. The Cubs gave him more than enough run support in the early innings to secure the victory.

Luis Devers will get the start for South Bend for game one. He is 2-0 with a 0.57 ERA and Kohl Franklin is expected to get the nod in game two. For Beloit, Evan Fitterer will start the first game with a 4-6 record and a 4.57 ERA. Fitterer was supposed to get the start on Wednesday. Jake Walters will go in game two which will be his first High-A start of this season.

Regional restrictions may apply.
