The Pittsburgh Pirates (44-64) climbed out of the National League Central cellar by cooling off the red-hot Orioles on Sunday and now head to the desert to open a four-game series with the Arizona Diamondbacks (48-59) on Monday night.
Arizona took two of three from the Rockies over the weekend and are fourth in the National League West. This is the final series of the year between Pittsburgh and Arizona as the Pirates took two of three in early June at PNC Park. Both teams topped 100 losses a season ago, but are on pace to avoid that mark this season.

Ke'Bryan Hayes homered for the Pirates on Sunday as they avoided a sweep at Baltimore. Arizona won the series finale against Colorado, scoring the go-ahead run in the eighth inning on a balk. Christian Walker and Emmanuel Rivera went deep for the D-backs.
Right-hander Zac Gallen will get the call for Arizona. He is 6-2 with a 3.31 ERA. He hasn't lost since June 10 and won on Tuesday at Cleveland after allowing three runs on six hits in 5.2 innings.
Pittsburgh is going with right-hander Tyler Beede, who made his first start of the season on Wednesday against the Brewers, but couldn't escape the second inning. Beede gave up four runs on five hits while recording only four outs. He was claimed off waivers from the Giants in May and has a 3.66 ERA in 32 innings over 18 appearances.
