The Phillies won the first game of the series on Tuesday 4-1. Catcher J.T. Realmuto went two-for-four with a double, home run and two runs driven in while the pitching staff piled up 12 strikeouts.
It took a comeback effort for Philadelphia to get the win on Tuesday. They trailed 3-1 heading into the bottom of the eighth against Cy Young candidate Sandy Alcantara. However, they'd put up three runs in that frame on their way to a 4-3 win.
It's not just this series that's been a success for the Phillies — they've been one of the hottest teams in baseball the last few weeks. They've won seven games in a row, and 11 of their last 12.
With that, they find themselves in the middle of a competitive National League wild-card race. The Phillies are currently in the second spot, three games behind the Braves and one up on the Padres.
