Chicago would answer to tie the game in the top of the seventh, but designated hitter Nelson Cruz hit a solo home run in the bottom of the eighth creating what would end up being the game-winning run.

That home run capped off what was a big day for Cruz. He went 2-for-4 with the home run, a double, and three runs driven in.
On the other side, left fielder Ian Happ had a big day for the Cubs. He hit his 11th and 12th home runs of the year, both solo shots.
Tuesday's pitching matchup features a pair of lefties. Justin Steele will go for the Cubs, with the Nationals sending Patrick Corbin to the hill.
