The Houston Astros go for the mid-week series sweep against the Texas Rangers on Wednesday.

Winners of six of their last eight games, the Houston Astros have seen their American League West division lead balloon to 11-and-a-half games over the Seattle Mariners. Today, they take their AL-leading road record to Arlington for the second game of a mid-week series against the Texas Rangers. The Rangers have lost three straight games as August runs to an end before setting out on a seven-game road trip that will see them face the Astros again next week, making today's result an important one for both sides. Houston will be favored but Texas won't make things easy for its in-state rival.

Framber Valdez won his sixth straight decision, going eight innings and allowing seven hits, two earned runs while tallying eight strikeouts. Second baseman Jose Altuve went two-for-five, including a solo home run to left field for his 22nd home run of the season, sparking the Astros’ league-leading 40th road win of the season.

Cristian Javier (7-9, 2.97 ERA) will get the start for the Astros looking for his first win since Aug. 14. Javier has made three starts against the Rangers tallying 16 innings, allowing four earned runs while striking out 20 batters.
