San Diego is coming off a 5-4 loss in its last game, though, just missing a sweep of St. Louis. The Padres were up 3-1 most of the game until rookie Brendan Donovan hit a grand slam in the seventh to put the Cardinals up for good.
The Rockies fell 3-0 in the last game against the Giants on a rainy Thursday afternoon. Mike Yastrzemski hit a homer to supply most of the offense San Francisco would need to cruise to victory. In the final three games of the series, after an extra-innings win in the opener, the Giants won handily.
The Padres will start Sean Manaea who is 7-9 with a 5.18 ERA. The Rockies will try to get back on track by starting Ryan Feltner who is 3-8 with a 6.05 ERA. It's getting crunch time for the Padres to get back to the playoffs for the first time since 2020.
