The Mets just missed the sweep against the Brewers when Milwaukee won 6-0 on Wednesday night.

The Brewers dominated that game to keep their playoff hopes alive. Mike Brosseau came in the game as a pinch hitter and hit a grand slam giving Milwaukee a much-needed offensive gap to put the game away for good. The A's just missed a sweep as well against the Mariners dropping the last game 9-5.
The Athletics will look to get another surprise series victory starting tonight with Cole Irvin on the mound. The lefty is 9-11 with a 3.11 ERA. The Mets will try to create more of a gap between themselves and the Atlanta Braves by starting Chris Bassitt who is 14-8 with a 3.32 ERA. With the Braves playing the Phillies this weekend, the Mets have to take advantage of the A's in this series.
