The Oakland Athletics (56-96) did the unlikely on Saturday in hammering Jacob deGrom for five runs in just four innings. The New York Mets (96-57) will now look to bounce back in the series finale on Sunday at Oakland Coliseum with their lead in the National League East cut to a game-and-a-half over the Braves. The loss was New York's second in three games on the heels of six consecutive wins, while Oakland has won three of its last five. The Mets have already clinched their first postseason berth since 2016 but they need to keep their foot on the pedal to maintain their lead in the National League East division.
