Pittsburgh leads the season series 9-7 and has won the last four meetings between the teams. The Reds snapped a three-game losing streak on Sunday and are opening their final road trip of the season. The Pirates are 1-3 on their current seven-game homestand. Coincidentally, Cincinnati enters with a 29-46 road record while Pittsburgh is 29-46 at home.

The Reds closed out a 2-4 homestand on Sunday with a 2-1 victory over the Brewers. Rookie Spencer Steer hit his first major-league homer in the eighth inning to provide the go-ahead run. Meanwhile, the Pirates lost an 8-3 decision to the Cubs.

Rookie Roansy Contreras takes the mound for Pittsburgh on Monday. In 19 appearances and 16 starts, he is 5-5 with a 3.68 ERA and 1.295 WHIP in 88 innings. While striking out a career-high 10 batters on Wednesday at Yankee Stadium, he was rocked for six runs in 4.2 innings and took the loss.

Cincinnati will give the ball to journeyman right-hander Chase Anderson. In six appearances, five of them starts, Anderson is 2-3 with a 5.21 ERA and 1.105 WHIP in 19 innings. He got the win on Wednesday against the Red Sox after allowing one run in five innings.
