The Orioles turn to 26-year-old rookie right-hander Kyle Bradish (4-7, 4.65 ERA) to keep their postseason hopes alive. Bradish makes his first start since a dominant ten-strikeout performance over eight and two-thirds innings in Thursday’s 2-0 win over Houston. September has been the best month of the season for the rookie, going 2-2 with an earned run average of 2.08, allowing just seven earned runs over 30.1 innings.
The Red Sox will counter with veteran righty Michael Wacha (11-1, 2.70 ERA) who has been one of the lone bright spots for this Boston pitching staff this season. Wacha, in his 10th season in the majors, has posted a career low in ERA and WHIP and is three strikeouts shy of his sixth 100+ strikeout season.
Baltimore has two of the top four base stealers in the majors with shortstop Jorge Mateo (33) and center fielder Cedric Mullins (31).
Mullins comes into tonight’s game on a six-game hitting streak in which he has hit a double, a triple, and two home runs with eight runs batted in.
