The final Sunday night baseball game on ESPN of the 2022 season is going to be epic. This game is essentially a must-win for the New York Mets if they are going to win the NL East, the division they've been leading for most of the season. That is not the case now as the Atlanta Braves have won the first two games of this series. With a win tonight, the defending champions will win their 100th game of the season and sweep this series to go two games ahead of the Mets. Both of those wins were against Jacob deGrom and Max Scherzer. This Atlanta team is primed for October baseball.

The Mets got off to an early lead in game two but Kyle Wright simply out-dueled Scherzer to get the win. Scherzer gave up four runs primarily on homers by Dansby Swanson and Matt Olson. Wright improved his record to 21-5 going five innings while giving up just two runs.
This game is do-or-die for the Mets. They do play the Washington Nationals in their next series but the Braves play the Miami Marlins so this will be the best opportunity they have to get back the tie of the division lead.
New York will start Chris Bassitt, who will give them a great chance with his 15-8 record with a 3.27 ERA. The Braves will start Charlie Morton who is 9-6 with a 4.29 ERA.
As far as this series is concerned, it feels like postseason baseball is already here.
