Matt Chapman showed off both his offensive and defensive skills as he hit two home runs and made an unbelievable catch down the left-field line on a popup by Brock Holt of the Rangers. Matt Olson also homered for the A's to help them keep pace with the first-place Astros. They sit two and a half games behind them in the AL West.
The Rangers failed to win two in a row on Saturday. It would have been just the second time since the All-Star break that they accomplished that. The Rangers, who have struggled all year, are just 6-21 since the break and are just trying to play spoiler at this point.
The Oakland A's will rely on Sean Manaea (8-7, 3.43 ERA) to help them win the rubber match on Sunday. Manaea has struggled in his last two outings, going just 1.2 innings against the Indians and 4.1 innings against the Padres. The A's will need him to get deeper in the game today. The Rangers will look to win just their seventh game since the break when they send Kolby Allard (2-10, 4.93 ERA) to the mound. Allard has gone six innings in his last two starts but failed to record a win in either one of them.
