Allmendinger has held the points lead since his win at the Pit Boss 250 at Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas back in March, a span of 17 races. In 23 races this season, Allmendinger has finished outside the top 10 just three times and has three checkered flags under his belt picking up wins at Portland and at the road course at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Rookie Sheldon Creed is currently 13th in the points standings, 43 points shy of Ryan Sieg for the 12th and final spot in the playoffs that start September 24th at Texas.

Joe Gibbs Racing announced that Denny Hamlin will not compete in today’s race as he recovers from injuries sustained at Sunday’s Cup Series race at Daytona. Hamlin, who has nine wins at Darlington across the top-two NASCAR series, will be replaced by Christopher Bell.

Regional restrictions may apply.
