The NASCAR Truck Series Round of 8 playoffs roll into Talladega Superspeedway

Sitting in fifth place in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series points standings, John Hunter Nemechek will be on the pole for today’s Chevy Silverado 250 at Talladega Superspeedway for the second of three Round of 8 races in the Truck Series playoffs. Ty Majeski, last week’s winner at Bristol, will start sixth when the green flag drops for 94 laps on the famed 2.66-mile tri-oval. Points leader Chandler Smith will start on the outside of row one. Smith has been dominant down the stretch finishing in the top ten in five of the last six races on the Truck Series schedule including wins in the regular season finale at Pocono and two weeks ago in Richmond. The 20-year-old from Georgia has five wins in the Truck Series and 31 top 10s in 57 races since joining the circuit in 2019.

Nemechek led 11 of the 94 scheduled laps at this race a year ago finishing fourth as Tate Fogleman picked up the win.

Zane Smith finished second last week at Bristol and will start today on the outside of row two. Zane Smith trails Chandler Smith by just three points in the driver's points chase.

Stewart Friesen, currently third in the points standings, will start today in 18th place, the worst starting position of any driver in the eight playoff spots.
