Watch Notre Dame–Ohio State, Georgia–Oregon and the Best College Football Games of Week 1

And, Utah looks to make a playoff push with an early-season test at Florida.

Last Saturday was just an appetizer. The college football season gets started in earnest today with a slate full of big-time games. From top-five matchups to regional rivalries, the schedule has it all.

Here’s what I’m watching today.

A quick note: Due to COVID-19, sports schedules are fluid and subject to change.

MUST WATCH:

No. 5 Notre Dame at No. 2 Ohio State

Ryan Day

The Buckeyes come into the season with huge expectations. But that’s something coach Ryan Day welcomes. The Irish haven’t been to Columbus since 1995, and they’ll make this trip with Marcus Freeman leading the charge after taking over for now LSU coach Brian Kelly.

LINEUP:

• Colorado State at No. 8 Michigan | Michigan is a massive favorite in Ann Arbor. So why is this one worth tuning in for in the early window? Coach Jim Harbaugh is instituting an unusual plan to decide the team’s quarterback competition. Senior Cade McNamara will start this game while sophomore J.J. McCarthy will start next week. 12 p.m. ET, ABC, watch on fuboTV

• No. 11 Oregon vs. No. 3 Georgia | I know it’s not technically this newsletter’s “Must Watch” game, but it’s pretty close. The defending national champs welcome new-look Oregon to Atlanta. Ex-Georgia defensive coordinator Dan Lanning has taken over the reins for the Ducks and will go up against a Kirby Smart team that will have a lot of new talent. 3:30 p.m. ET, ESPN, watch on fuboTV

• Rice at No. 14 USC | Lincoln Riley’s debut is enough to get me to tune into at least part of this one. 6 p.m. ET, Pac 12 Network, watch on fuboTV

• No. 7 Utah at Florida | Utah has massive expectations this season after a 10-win campaign last year. But they’re traveling a long way to Gainesville for coach Billy Napier’s debut with the Gators. 7 p.m. ET, ESPN, watch on fuboTV

HIDDEN GEM:

No. 13 NC State at East Carolina

NC State will be looking to challenge for the ACC title this season. But the Wolfpack can’t look past local rival East Carolina. Greenville will be rocking for this one. The Pirates have won three of the last five games against NC State, dating back to 2010.

12 p.m. ET, ESPN, watch on fuboTV
