The first qualifier between these two teams ended in a 3–1 win for the Belgians. But it was Wales that struck first, with Harry Wilson providing a goal in the tenth minute.

If Wales does not come away with at least one point from a draw, it may retain its second-place position in Group E in the event that Czech Republic wins but cannot overcome the two-goal gap in goal differential separating it from Wales.

If Wales does fall to third place, it is still likely to qualify for playoffs but as an unseeded team facing a road match.

Wales will seek to secure its seeded position in the playoffs without captain and Real Madrid winger Gareth Bale in the starting lineup, as he is currently recovering from injury. Bale will be available as a substitute for this match.
