The host nation will look to up upset the Matildas of Australia to get off to a strong start in Group A play. The top two teams from the group will advance in the tournament while the bottom two will pack their bags and head home.
In Costa Rica's 2010 debut in the U20 Women's World Cup, the team gave Germany a run for its money. Despite losing 4-2, Costa Rica proved it was an up-and-coming nation in the sport and has been building a strong team of up-and-comers ever since.
Costa Rica and Australia did not compete in the 2018 edition of the U20 World Cup so they will both be looking to start and finish strong to show that they deserve to be involved.
Over the next two-and-a-half weeks in the women's soccer world, all eyes will be on the youth playing which will represent the future of the sport as these young players set their sights on a professional career in the sport.
