Both of the previous matchups between these squads have ended in draws, a 1-1 at Oakland in May and a wild 3-3 result here at Heart Health Park in early July. Rodrigo Lopez opened the scoring in the 11^th minute and took a 2-1 lead into the halftime break. Oakland’s Magnus Karlsson netted a pair of goals separated by 15 minutes to take a 3-2 lead only to see Luis Felipe score the equalizer for Sacramento at the death in the 90^th minute.

Karlsson ranks second in the USL with 15 goals this season. The Iceland native joined Oakland on loan from Italian Club Venezia in February of 2022.

Oakland Roots SC’s victory against San Diego Loyal SC on Wednesday night in interim Head Coach Noah Delgado’s debut was a massive boost for the club’s playoff hopes as they battle LA Galaxy II and El Paso for the final spot in the Western Conference playoffs.
