Rio Tinto Stadium is set to host the midweek matchup between MLS side Real Salt Lake and Liga MX club Atlas on Wednesday in 2022 Leagues Cup action. The 2022 edition of the inter-league competition will feature five Major League Soccer clubs and three clubs from the Mexican first division. The five MLS sides included in the competition are L.A. Galaxy, Los Angeles FC, FC Cincinnati, Nashville SC and Real Salt Lake, while the three clubs from Liga MX are the two winningest teams in league history, Club América and Chivas de Guadalajara, as well as the back-to-back reigning league champion Atlas.

RSL enters the match on Thursday coming off of a slim 2-1 loss at the hands of FC Cincinnati on Saturday in MLS regular season action. Maikel Chang scored the club's lone goal in the defeat.
Meanwhile, Atlas continues its unsuccessful quest for the three-peat as it comes off a 2-0 loss to Monterrey over the weekend, the club's 10th loss of the season in 16 matches.
