McNally and Townsend won in a three-set match, which they were in firm control of for most of the match as they advance to the women’s doubles finals.
The journey for McNally and Townsend went saw the duo win 10 of their 12 sets, win their only tiebreaker and earn their spot in the finals with wins over ranked pairings of Erin Routliffe and Erin Routliffe (16th seed), Demi Schuurs and Desirae Krawczyk (sixth) and Caroline Dolehide and Storm Sanders (12th).
This is the second final in a row here for McNally and the first final at a major for Townsend.
On the other side for Siniaková, this is her third U.S. Open finals appearance and the opportunity to win the doubles grand slam with wins already at the French Open (2018), Wimbledon (2018) and the Australian Open (2022). For Krejčíková, this is her first U.S. Open final, but also a chance to win the Grand Slam for women’s doubles tennis with wins in the same events with Siniaková.
