The Connecticut Sun can lock up at least the No. 3 seed in the WNBA playoffs, but face a desperate Los Angeles Sparks club on Tuesday.

The Connecticut Sun (22-11) can't finish higher than second in the WNBA playoff chase. But on Tuesday the Sun can clinch no worse than the No. 3 spot with a win over the Los Angeles Sparks (13-20) at Crypto.com Arena. 

The Sparks are in a three-way tie with the Lynx and Liberty and one game behind Atlanta and Phoenix for the final two postseason berths with three games remaining in the regular season. Connecticut is a game behind Las Vegas for second place and three games in back of first place Chicago, but the Sky and Aces hold the head-to-head tiebreakers for the top two spots.

The Suns last shot at the top seed evaporated with a 94-91 loss at Chicago on Sunday. Connecticut erased a six-point lead in the final 1:30 of regulation when DeWanna Bonner completed a 4-point play and Alyssa Thomas tied the game with a drive and score. But the Sky took the lead for good with 28 seconds left.

Bonner finished with 18 points and Jonquel Jones added 17 points and 10 boards.

Los Angeles picked up an important win at Washington on Sunday to snap a six-game losing streak. The Sparks squandered nearly all of an eight-point fourth quarter lead ,before finally icing the game with 4.4 seconds.

Brittney Sykes led the Sparks with 21 points and Jordin Canada dished out 12 assists to go with 11 points.
