A win today at home in Game 2 will send A’ja Wilson and her team to the second round. To their credit, Phoenix is playing very short-handed without the legend Diana Taurasi, their best player this season Skylar Diggins-Smith and frontcourt anchor Brittney Griner. They will be without the trio again on Saturday, as the gritty, remaining players look to push Las Vegas to their limit for all four periods this time and try to steal a win.

Las Vegas was able to close out Phoenix in the final period behind 22 points from Kelsey Plum and 33 combined points from Chelsea Gray and Jackie Young:
Through three periods, Phoenix played well with Las Vegas and frustrated them, limiting them to 51 points and only trailing by four points.
Diamond DeShields and Sophie Cunningham combined for 30 points, 12 rebounds, four assists and three made three-points, but it wasn’t quite enough to steal the win on the road. Their defense played very well anchored by Brianna Turner with 16 rebounds.
As a team, Las Vegas shot 40.6% from the field (32.1% from three) and only scored 79 points, all way down from their regular season averages where they shot 46% from the field (36% from three) and scored 90.4 points per game.
Phoenix will need an even better defensive performance and figure out how to replace Taurasi and SDS's combined 36.7 points, 9.4 assists and 7.4 rebounds per game.
