The Seattle Storm and Las Vegas Aces exceeded expectations in the first game of their WNBA semifinals. Seattle walked away with the win, stealing home-court advantage back from a Las Vegas team that went 13-5 at home, winning its last seven home games, including in the playoffs before the loss in game one. This Seattle team is built to win a championship with two former MVPs, four No. 1 overall picks and boasting two WNBA championships in the last five seasons. This will be a major test for both teams here in game two today as the Storm and Aces are set to face off again.

In game one, Seattle held on to win after a tremendous start in the first quarter, taking a 26-15 lead over the best offensive team in the league.
Jewell Loyd and Breanna Stewart finished the game with 50 points combined, led by Loyd’s 26 points on four-for-10 shooting from three. Stewart was patient and let the offense come to her with 24 points, six rebounds and three blocks on nine-for--17 shooting (six-for-six from the line).
Less heralded was the play of Sue Bird (12 assists and zero turnovers) and Tina Charles (13 points and 18 rebounds) who did all the little things to get Loyd and Stewart rolling. Bird had a stretch in the third period where she assisted on four straight possessions for a brilliant stretch as Seattle and Las Vegas traded baskets.
