BAD GASTEIN, Austria (AP) Swiss snowboarders Patrizia Kummer and Nevin Galmarini won a World Cup parallel team event on Saturday, the final competition before next week's world championships.

Kummer and Galmani defeated Russia 5, with Svetlana Boldykova and Valery Kolegov, in the final, while Russia 2 beat Austria 2 in the small final and placed third.

Italy's Nadya Ochner and Roland Fischnaller, who lost in the quarterfinals, remained top of the standings with 1,450 points, followed by Russia 2 on 1,400 and Switzerland 1 on 1,290.

It was the second event under a new format, which sees two teams go head-to-head on parallel courses. The women race first and their finish will automatically open the start gate for their male teammates. The man crossing the line first wins the heat for his team.
