FALUN, Sweden (AP) Shortly after winning his fifth Nordic combined world championship title, Jason Lamy Chappuis of France announced he will retire from the sport at the end of this season.

Lamy Chappuis won Olympic gold on the normal hill in Vancouver in 2010 and teamed with Francois Braud to win the team sprint event in Falun on Saturday for his first gold of these worlds.

The Frenchman is only 28, but said he wants to end his career on a high. He said ''finishing here in Falun with a world championship title, I think is the best way to finish a career. I want these memories like today to be forever in my head.''

He said he will continue competing in the World Cup until the end of the season in March.
