EAST LANSING, Mich. (AP) Authorities are investigating a Michigan State softball player's complaint of being hit intentionally by two balls pitched by an assistant coach.

The Detroit News reports (http://bit.ly/1FXHslo ) Friday that 22-year-old senior outfielder Alyssa McBride said she was targeted during a batting practice late in the season after she made unflattering comments about the struggling program.

McBride said she was struck in the left arm and on a wrist. The pitch that struck her arm left a bruise.

Police have completed an investigation. A report is being reviewed by the county prosecutor's office. The university says it also is investigating McBride's allegations.

McBride started 50 games this season for the Spartans and had a .371 batting average. The team's record over McBride's four years was 66-140.
