Rutgers dismisses five arrested football players

Rutgers has dismissed the five football players that were arrested on Thursday, coach Kyle Flood announced.

Cornerbacks Nadir Barnwell, Dre Boggs and Ruhann Peele, safety Delon Thompson and fullback Razohnn Gross have all been dismissed from the program after they were arrested on charges stemming from an April assault.

According to an NJ Advance Media report, the five players were caught on video attacking a group of at least four people,. A 19-year-old male suffered a broken jaw.

Boggs, who was expected to start at cornerback, was charged with two counts of robbery, two counts of conspiracy to commit an armed robbery, burglary while armed and attempted burglary while armed. He was involved in a second home invasion on May 5.

Barnwell and Stephenson were also slated to start for the Scarlet Knights.

Athletic director Julie Hermann announced the suspension of the players shortly after Thursday’s arrests.
