Registration closes for the 2016 Boston Marathon

BOSTON (AP) The mad dash to get into next year's Boston Marathon is over.

Organizers say registration for the April 18 race closed at 5 p.m. Wednesday after the field limit of 30,000 entrants was reached.

Registration had opened Sept. 14, with the fastest runners getting first dibs on a bib.

The Boston Athletic Association, which organizes the event, says not all qualifiers who submitted an entry for the 120th running of the marathon will be accepted.
