Mo Farah finishes 2nd on 'slippery' course in Edinburgh

EDINBURGH, Scotland (AP) Mo Farah finished second to Garrett Heath of the United States at a rainy Great Edinburgh Cross Country men's race on Saturday.

Double Olympic champion Farah lost to Heath in a sprint finish in his first race of 2016. Heath clocked 25 minutes, 29 seconds in the 8-kilometer race, with Farah two seconds behind.

Farah, who is preparing for the defense of his 5,000 and 10,000 meter titles at the Rio Olympics, said it was ''disappointing to lose but better to lose now.''

He told the BBC: ''I couldn't really sprint, it was very slippery.''

Farah will be back in Scotland on Feb. 20 for the Glasgow Indoor Grand Prix.
