INDIANAPOLIS (AP) The NCAA Division I Student-Athlete Advisory Committee has endorsed seven proposals to improve an athlete's college experience.

One measure calls for allowing educational exceptions to the five-year eligibility rule. The committee believes it would provide players with more opportunities to study abroad and work at internships.

Another asks schools to offer ''life skills'' programs on topics such as social media, financial literacy, resume development and careers in sports among others.

The committee also is asking athletes and administrators to work together on a definition of ''required athletically-related activities,'' to provide more information to recruits about time-demand expectations and sport-specific reviews of in-season and offseason schedules and all countable ''athletically-related activities.''

The committee's recommendations will be sent to the Division I Council.
