1956 SILVER ANNIVERSARY ALL-AMERICA

With this issue the editors of SPORTS ILLUSTRATED introduce the first of a new series of annual national awards for achievement—to be known as the Silver Anniversary All-America. With the cooperation of American colleges and universities—which have studied the achievement records of their own senior football lettermen—and with the aid of a national board of judges, SPORTS ILLUSTRATED, in the following pages, honors 25 athletes of 25 years ago—not only for what they did then but for what they have achieved since. Symbol of the award: silver goal posts.
