Gary Heinrich, 17-year-old Hayward (Calif.) H.S. senior, hardly treated his elders with respect in senior AAU swim championships at Philadelphia, upsetting favored Bill Yorzyk by 10 meters in 400-meter individual medley in 5:15.6 for new U.S. record.

Captain Kenneth D. Chandler, 33, sandy-haired Korean war jet ace, buzzed his Convair F-102 delta-wing interceptor 620 miles from Chicago's O'Hare Field to Maryland's Andrews AFB at record 679 mph to win Bendix Trophy race (see page 18).

Margaret Osborne du Pont, three-time U.S. singles champion and doubles' winner 12 times, will captain Wightman. Cup team which meets Britain at Sewickley, Pa. Aug. 10-11. Others: Althea Gibson, Darlene Hard, Louise Brough, Dorothy Head Knode.
