As SPORTS ILLUSTRATED's photographer, who just happened to be in the M√∂venpick restaurant in Geneva, Switzerland, last week, watched and snapped, the boy and the girl sipped on a mutual soda straw, playfully mugged, bussed and—discovered at last—giggled in becoming embarrassment. The importance of the ageless routine was that the winsome boy was the dashing heavyweight boxing champion of the world and the girl was the Birgit Lundgren he had coyly introduced as "my fiancée" to snickering sportswriters when he came to America for the first time a year ago to start training for the fight that brought him fame and fortune. The odds were that Ingemar Johansson would not ever marry Birgit or be heavyweight champion. The news, verified by these photographs last week, was that Ingemar was celebrating his formal engagement to Birgit.
