Patrice Maloney, 12, a swimmer from Larchmont, N.Y., won nine gold medals, set two individual meet marks, anchored three record-breaking relay teams and was awarded two high-point trophies at three regional meets within a 25-day period.

Chris Conkwright, a 10-year-old wrestler from Virginia Beach who has lost only one of 30 matches, took his third straight Junior Olympic Wrestling title by pinning all five opponents in the midget division, 65-pound class championships in Norfolk, Va.

Patricia Cody, a 26-year-old plastics machine operator from Bell, Calif. who was runner-up in the 1966 National Public Parks Women's Single Tennis Championships, won the title this year in Pittsburgh, 6-3, 6-1, for her first national tournament victory.

Lyn Lott, 17, a two-time Georgia State High School Class AA Golf Champion, became the youngest ever to win the State Open Championship when he beat 184 professionals and amateurs with a 54-hole total of 212, two strokes ahead of his nearest rivals.

Betty Foulk, a housewife from Greenwich, Conn., skippered her Ensign Class entry to victory in the Women's North American Sailing Championship when she easily defeated Leslie Messenger of Balboa, Calif. in the eight-race series on Lake Ontario.

Vic Berger, 32, from Springfield, Ohio, led from start to finish of the professional division two-day shoot at the International Outdoor Archery Championship in Pasadena as he hit 591 of 600 targets to upset defending titlist Bill Bednar, who tied for second.
