The Winter Olympics' first week was crash-crash-crash for U.S. Alpine skiers as Jim Barrows (shown spinning toward a shocking fall) and seven other men and women hit the snow. Meanwhile, France's Jean-Claude Killy and Austria's Olga Pall were striking gold. But there was some cheer for the U.S. in the performance of its girl skaters
