Mike Martin, a left-handed pitcher for Olympia High, Columbia, S.C., has struck out 122 batters in 53 innings for a 9-0 performance this year and a three-year record of 25 wins and only one loss. Olympia won the state AA championship in 1967 and is 15-1 in 1969.

Primrose Abilla is a senior at Aiea High on Oahu who has been competing in field events for two years. The Hawaii girls' long-jump champion (18'9½"), she also became the first to surpass five feet in the high jump in clearing her own height of 5'3".

Terry Larrimer, captain of the Princeton Rugby Football Club, led his team to the first Ivy League Rugby championship, played at Brown, scoring three tries. The Tigers outscored their opponents 37-9 in the round-robin event, finishing with a 4-0 record.

Steven Ross, 18, of N. Bellmore, N.Y., a competitive bowler for the past six months, rolled an average of 255.75 in four consecutive games to win the men's division of the Wantagh (N.Y.) Invitational over 54 competitors. In one game he had 11 strikes in a row.

John Mahaffey, a 5'8", 126-pound junior at the University of Houston, missed some early tournaments, but then won three straight—all at five under par—to raise his total to five this year and lead his team to a 14-1 mark. Mahaffey averages 70 strokes per round.

Christine Turnbull became the first woman to pilot a balloon across the English Channel. A 20-year-old law student who has been ballooning since the age of 14, Christine is the only British woman licensed to pilot one. She made the trip in a little over three hours.
