• They ranked in the top five in sacks and points allowed in 2009, have one of the NFL's best individual defensive players in middle linebacker Patrick Willis (above) and are coached by the fiery Hall of Fame 'backer Mike Singletary. So why is the average draft position (ADP) for the 49ers' defense and special teams ninth? SI ranks them fourth for '10, but with the addition of dangerous return man Ted Ginn Jr., it's reasonable to take them as high as No. 2.

• Part of the reason that Chris Johnson broke the 2,000-yard barrier for the Titans last season was their lack of a quality alternative. LenDale White was expected to help, but he struggled on and off the field. This season Javon Ringer (above), a 5'9" second-year back, has impressed Tennessee's staff. Ringer won't take many carries from Johnson, but as a change-of-pace runner he has the potential for 400 yards and five touchdowns, making him worth a speculative late pick.

Devin Thomas (above), the Redskins' second-round pick in 2008, has been a letdown, catching just 40 balls for 445 yards and three TDs in two seasons. But now that Donovan McNabb—who helped develop Jason Avant, DeSean Jackson and Jeremy Maclin in Philadelphia—is under center, don't be surprised to see Thomas fly off waiver wires early in the season.
