THE QUESTIONS

WITH Al Harrington Hawks Forward

Edited by Kostya Kennedy

What was your welcome-to-the-NBA moment?
My first game [in 1998 with the Pacers]. We were playing Toronto. There were two minutes to go, and we were leading. Coach put me in, and I actually got a basket. A layup on a break. I'll never forget.

Your most embarrassing moment?
As a rookie the guys made me sing in front of the fans after a preseason game. It was sold out. I sang Barney ["I love you; you love me"]. It got me the nickname Baby Al, which I couldn't shake for a long time.

Your favorite off-day activity?
Going to the movies. I recently saw Get Rich or Die Tryin'. Pretty good.

If I weren't in the NBA, I'd be ...
probably in the NFL. [Football] was my first love. I'd play defensive end.

If I were commissioner for a day, I'd ...
change the rule that you can't wear headphones in the arena. I wouldn't change the dress code. It isn't that bad.

LAST WEEK
The 6'9", 245-pound Harrington averaged 24 points in four games.

THIS WEEK
Harrington and the Hawks will be in Atlanta for the holidays, hosting the Sixers on Dec. 23 and the Bobcats four days later.
