Michael Desaulniers, of Montreal, won the U.S. national junior singles squash championship for the second consecutive year, beating Philadelphia's Tom Page 13-15, 15-8, 15-6, 15-7 at the Genesee Valley Country Club in Rochester, N.Y.

John Tyma and Mike Patterson led the Brecksville-Broadview Heights High School soccer team to the Ohio state championship, the Bees outscoring the opposition 78 goals to 17. The Bees' 18-2 season record included eight shutouts; they had four more in six postseason games. Tyma, a senior left inside forward, scored 25 goals and had 19 assists to boost his career totals to 75 and 31. Patterson, a junior right inside forward, has a three-year total of 51 goals and 49 assists. Both he and Tyma were All-Ohio first team selections in 1974 and 1975.

Diane Barrett, 14, and Lora Cartwright, 13, hold world marathon records in their age groups. Diane, of Phoenix, set her second straight world record, 2:50.21, in the Fiesta Bowl Marathon. She had broken the mark for 13-year-olds at the same meet in 1974, but Lora, of Muncie, Ind., ran a 2:55 this year to cut 12 seconds off the record. Lora also set a national Junior Olympic mile record of 5:01.7, lowering the previous mark by eight seconds. The AAU selected Lora as Indiana's outstanding female distance runner in 1975.

Nancy Thompson, 16, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, set eight state age-group swimming records in the AAU age-group championships at Boise. Thompson's marks came in the 200- and 400-yard IM, 100 and 200 backstroke and 50, 100, 200 and 500 freestyle.
