A 144-pound, 13-year-old running back for the Kirkland Kings junior football team, J. Ryan rushed for 1,089 yards on 77 carries for an average of 14.1 yards per try. Four of his 14 touchdowns came on runs of 80 yards or more.
Nance, an 18-year-old senior goalie, led the Iroquois Central girls' varsity field hockey team to its second division championship in as many seasons. She had 12 consecutive shutouts in 13 games, bringing her four-year total to 26.

A junior left wing at American International College in Springfield, Mass., Mullen's 92 goals surpassed the school's record of 89 set by David Forbes, now of the Boston Bruins. He ranks fifth in alltime college scoring with 147 points.
At the Appalachian Fall Orienteering Festival in Athens, Ohio, Baker, a plebe at West Point, defeated the national women's champion, Army Lieut. Joan Gunther, by more than 20 minutes, to win the women's elite competition.
A quarterback/safety for Oscar Smith High, Easley, a 200-pound senior, passed for 1,066 yards, rushed for 813, threw for nine of his 11 TDs, kicked eight extra points and a field goal, made 10 interceptions and averaged 14 tackles a game.
