Rhonda, a ninth-grader at Weldon E. Howitt Junior High, set a national women's high-power rifle record of 491-14X at 200 yards in the National Match Course tournament in Manorville, N.Y. She beat 34 competitors, all older than she.

PAVO, GA.
Dean, 26, a 6'7", 460-pound pig farmer, defeated seven opponents, including previously unbeaten Virgil Arcierro, to win the Pro Celebrity Arm Wrestling Championship in Las Vegas. Dean won the Petaluma title last year.

JOANNE VAN WOERT
DELMAR, N.Y.
Joanne, 18, pitched a perfect game and two two-hitters as Bethlehem Central High won the Section II Class A title for the second straight year. In three years she had a 24-3 record, an 0.41 ERA, 268 strikeouts in 190 innings, and hit .540 with 73 RBIs.

John, 9, a third-grader at P.S. 204, ran 800 meters in 2:24.5, 4.9 seconds faster than the national age-group record. He was also a member of a 400-meter relay team, which set a national age-group record of 54.0 at the national meet in Dayton.

MT. ARLINGTON, N.J.
Midshipman Smigelski, 22, won the Singlehanded National Championship and was named 1979's top intercollegiate sailor in North America. The three-time All-America captained the Merchant Marine Academy team to 14 regatta wins this year.

TOMMY MCDONALD
SARASOTA, FLA.
Tommy, 14, has averaged two strikeouts an inning and allowed just three earned runs while winning nine straight for his Babe Ruth League team to bring his consecutive-win streak to 28. His 44-7 career record includes six no-hitters.
