Joanne, a fourth-grader at Narrowsview Elementary, had a 40-2 record in tennis last season and was the No. 1-ranked 10-and-under girl in the Pacific Northwest Region. She captured 11 of the 13 tournaments she entered last year.

DARREN BEAN
COLMESNEIL, TEXAS
Darren, a junior at Colmesneil High, pitched and won the semifinal and final games in leading the Bulldogs to the Class B state baseball title. In those two outings, he allowed only three hits. For the season, he was 14-2 with a 0.73 ERA.

Bellini, 27, a secretary, had 13 service aces in beating Allison Roberts 21-8, 21-5 to win the first U.S. Handball Association women's open, in Tucson. Last year she led her Avengers softball team in doubles, runs and RBIs, while batting .429.

TERRY YOSHIHARA
TAMPA
Yoshihara, 24, a sophomore at Hillsborough JC, won the singles, doubles and all-events titles at the National Intercollegiate Women's Bowling championships in Seattle. She is the first bowler to win all three events in the same year.

TODD COOPER
HARRISBURG, ARK.
Todd, a recent Harrisburg High graduate, scored 7,118 points in winning the decathlon at the Arkansas high school championship meet in Russellville. The state's best one-on-one basketball player in 1979, he will attend Arkansas State.

LYNN CONNELLY
MINERSVILLE, PA.
Lynn, a junior at Minersville High, who had a two-year pitching record of 57-3, allowed only four runs—none of them this year—while going 9-0 in state tournament play and leading the Miners to a pair of Class AA softball titles.
