DeLong, a 34-year-old lawyer, won the Run to the Sun 37½-mile ultra-marathon on Maui in 4:59:26. He broke by 38 minutes the year-old record for the race, which ends at the top of the 10,000-foot Haleakala volcano.

LOS ANGELES
Gayle, now 14, got four gold medals in events for girls 13 and under at the U.S. girls age group track and field championships. She won the 100 meters (12.3) and the long jump (17'8¾") and was on the victorious 400-meter and mile relay teams.

WARSAW, N.C.
Cam, a 12-year-old pitcher for the Cubs of the Warsaw Little League, threw five straight no-hitters over two years, including a 16-strikeout, six-inning perfect game. He led the league in hitting this season with a .560 average.

SHIPPENSBURG, PA.
Sandy, 16, pitched Shippensburg to a 5-2 victory over Naples, Fla. in the final game of the senior girls division of the Softball World Series in Kalamazoo, Mich. She was 9-0 and had two no-hitters in nine outings during postseason play.

O'FALLON, ILL.
Schamens, 19, a sophomore at the University of Texas, got two holes in one during an 18-hole round at the Tamarack Country Club in O'Fallon. He aced the 160-yard 3rd hole with a six-iron and the 220-yard 11th with a driver.

TORONTO
Jocelyn, 15, swam the 32 miles from Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario to Toronto in 15 hours, 56 minutes, 41 minutes shy of Cindy Nicholas' record, set in 1974. She is believed to be the youngest person ever to swim across Lake Ontario.
