Van Hoy, 23, climbed 14,410-foot Mt. Rainier in five hours and 25 minutes—one hour and 16 minutes faster than the record set in 1959. The route from Paradise via Camp Muir and Disappointment Cleaver usually is scaled in two days.

Lisa, 14, set four national teenage powerlifting records for 14-and 15-year-old girls in the 132-pound class. Her winning marks came in the squat (192¾ pounds), bench press (110), dead-lift (242½) and total poundage (534½).

Ron, a senior quarterback, paced Hamilton Southeastern High to a 14-0 season and the Indiana Class A title with 41 TD passes, one shy of the national high school record set by Pat Haden. He completed 194 of 358 for 3,250 yards.

CORVALLIS, ORE.
Denise, a senior, has led the Corvallis High volleyball team to 90 consecutive wins and three straight state Class AAA crowns while twice being named to the all-state tournament team. She is a two-time all-league basketball player.

Charles, a senior at St. Christopher's High, and Connie Jo, a senior at Reading High, won the national high school boys' and girls' cross-country titles, respectively, in Orlando, Fla. Charles covered the 5,000-meter Orlando Park course in 14:51.9, finishing four seconds ahead of Harold Kuphaldt of Fair Oaks, Calif. Connie Jo's time of 16:40.4 was 2.8 seconds better than that of the runner-up, Lois Brommer of Mechanicsburg, Pa. Both champions' times were records for the event.
